10 mile TT G10/57 race result - 16th June 2009

The evening turned out for our second event running, to be sunny & warm with a light south east wind, after it being much stronger earlier in the day.

There was our biggest turn-out of the year with 18 members competing on a fast evening with Brian Molloy on fixed wheel fastest from Stephen Emmerson.

There were many good rides with personal best times by Paul Cannon by 20 seconds, Richard Gill, 9 seconds & Phil Turner, 30 seconds. Eight riders improved on their best time for the current & past season, so may find their handicap allowances reduced.

Hans Neeser just 72 years young, did his fastest time for 12 years & Ben Levine just 55 years younger still did a very good first '10' after deciding to make a short detour up towards Tolegate Hill.
Ben won the Mike Bradley Trophy in our 2006, Open '25' & this was his first flat time trial since then, having done the Catford CC hill climb last year.

How is it that often it is the fast men that can't count the right number of roundabouts on this course? Colin Parkinson, Peter Doherty & now Rocket Roy, who would probably been on a personal & third place if he hadn't turned short.

It was good to see Keith White, Colin Shales & John Ware, who were all back racing after recant health problems, with John taking the handicap award after improving 3 minutes on his only other ride this year.
