@epsomcc.co.uk email addresses

Email addresses can be added to the epsomcc.co.uk server as required for club members.

There are three  options for these email accounts: standalone, forwarding address or a combination of those two; a hybrid mailbox.

For information on using a standalone or shared mailbox, see the help section.

Here are the details on those options:

Standalone Mailbox

This will have its own inbox and folder structure. It can be added to your smartphone email app, or the email software on your computer.

It has its own password and works completely independently of any other email address you may have. It has its own folders such as sent items, drafts & deleted items. This will typically be set up as an IMAP mailbox and all email is stored on the server.

Shared Standalone Mailboxes

Standalone mailboxes can also be set up for use as shared accounts/ mailboxes- for example the open10@epsomcc.co.uk address- the credentials to access this mailbox can then be shared with all members who need to send from and/or receive emails to this address.

All standalone mailboxes also have their own settings which can be via the control panel here: mailboxes.dreamhost.com

It is OK to have multiple standalone mailboxes. For example a personal mailbox (yourname@epsomcc.co.uk), plus one or more additional mailboxes for example accounts@ or open10@, depending on your needs.

Each mailbox has optional controls for automated filtering, automated replies etc. There is a help page for the Mailboxes control panel.

Forwarding Address

With this option, you are given a unique epsomcc.co.uk email address and you choose an existing email address of yours that you would like this email to be sent to.

This means that the epsomcc.co.uk emails will be mixed up with the other email in that inbox.

It also means that you are not able to send messages from your @epsomcc.co.uk address, so when you reply to a message that was set to the @epsomcc.co.uk address, it will be sent from your personal email address.

Hybrid Setup

It’s possible to set an @epsomcc.co.uk address up so that it does both of the above simultaneously. An email sent to the @epsomcc.co.uk address will be stored in its own inbox, and it will also be forwarded to the email address of your choice.

Accessing Your Standalone or Shared Mailbox

Setting Up Your Phone or Software to Access Your Standalone Mailbox

Here’s a help page for setting up various phones/ software to access the email once you have your account’s details (email address and password).

Accessing Using Webmail

Standalone mailboxes can also be accessed and used via a secure web page from anywhere with an internet connection by visiting  webmail.dreamhost.com – you just need to enter the email address and password.

There is a help page for the webmail system

Controlling Your Standalone or Shared Mailbox

Each of these mailboxes have their own control panel. From here you can change the password, set up automated replies (for example to let senders know that you are away or to confirm receipt of their message), set up automated message filtering and more.

Beware, that if you change the password or other settings on a shared mailbox, the changes will affect anyone else that may be using that mailbox.

To access the controls, use The Mailboxes Interface.

For information on how to use the interface see the The mailboxes Interface help page.
